ABOUT
US
How do we explain us?  Well, we are 4 girls that thought it would be an awesome idea
to have a store that combines all these crazy wonderful things we all love to call
obsessions... er ah... hobbies.  So, we sat for hours planning a name, a place, what
to carry, and paid a lot of lunch tabs.  Here is what we came up with... We picked
Market Street for two reasons:  The first is because if you are coming from out of
town, just ask anyone and they will know where Market Street is in Clearfield... the
other reason, yeah it's a Market place for you girls. Now, the location was a little bit
harder.  Our current location is small and is packed full of goodness.  We know this.
However, we wanted to get our trendy, fast moving style business the right start,  so
we went smaller.  We signed a short term lease, and we are keeping our eyes wide
open for a HUGE new location.  So who is Market Street?  Let us introduce ourselves.

Sewing is one of my passions. From my earliest memories of sitting on my Grandmother
Della’s lap at her treadle sewing machine, to the thrill of the electric sewing machine in
7th grade, as a part-time career in college, to true passion of quilting.

Teaching is another passion. I even managed to teach my mother to sew.  My father was
so impressed with my passion for sewing that he purchased a brand new sewing
machine or me, just in time for the arrival of the first of my three children. That sewing
machine was a blessing through out their childhood, the endless costumes alone.

As my youngest child left the nest, my best friend Carol ask how we were going to fill
the empty nest void, my response “QUILTING”. Once again, a new hobby became a
passionate career.

Upon retirement, I wasn’t sure how I’d fill my time, so decided to live my dream and
open a “small” quilt shop. But where? This dream became a possible when my aunt
passed away and left me a house in the commercial district of Curwensville. Very
quickly, my shop wasn’t little anymore! Being a quilt shop owner allows me to do all the
things I love, sew, teach people and play with fabric.

I have three children, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a dog, Charlie…..
oh, yeah, and a husband!  The same husband for a long, long time!

Favorite movies –Momma Mia, The Queen, Star Wars – all of them!, Roger Rabbit and
Dirty Dancing

Favorite color – all of them!!! Every single one!

Favorite quilting product – the quarter inch foot on my sewing machines

Favorite food – Pasta anything!

What I can’t live without – Laughter, Coffee, laughter, friends, laughter, my laptop,
laughter, my sewing machines, and laughter!
